Our Fun-Filled Weekend!!
Harbor and I spent Labor Day weekend in the Hospital recovering from a UTI, not exactly what I had in mind when I said I wanted to get away for the weekend. We were released from the hospital, or what I like to call our "jail cell" Monday afternoon. Being confined to a hospital room for days on end can drive a person crazy! We are happy to finally be home and in our own element, Harbor is doing so much better now and has her checkup with the Dr. later today to make sure all is healing well. It was definitely the scare of our lives though. I don't know if this is something I'm even going to want to remember but thought I should record it anyway. It all started Friday evening, Harbor was really fussy and was running a low fever. We gave her Tylenol and by 8:30 when I layed her down for bed her fever seemed to be gone and was doing fine. At 11:30 I woke up to Harbor grunting in her bassinet next to my bed, I figured she was making a mess in her diaper and would change it when she finished, little did I know she was actually gasping for air. After a minute or two I picked her up to change her diaper and knew instantly something was seriously wrong. She felt very stiff and was shaking, I turned on the light to find her lips purple and unresponsive. I was trying not to panic because I tend to freak out in situations like this and Justin HATES it more than anything. So when I woke Justin, I tried my hardest to remain calm, but he knew just from looking at her that it was serious so we dialed 911. When I saw that Justin was panicked I think I lost any ounce of self control I had in me and was shaking from head to toe. Within about five minutes a Police Officer pulled up, he grabbed her, unbuttoned her onsie and started rubbing her back and feet intensely. After a couple of minutes of doing this, he was finally able to get her to cry. When the fire department arrived, they gave her the oxygen and were loading her up to rush us to the Hospital. But before we left, the Officer quietly asked Justin if we were LDS, Justin said yes and asked why. The Officer then asked if Justin wanted him to help give her a blessing before we left. I am so greatful that he was there to help, I know how badly Justin wanted to give her a blessing all along but felt like he couldn't. It was so comforting to feel the Spirit, and knew from that moment everything would turn out okay. When we got to the hospital her temperature was a little over 104. After running a few tests and being poked and prodded at least a dozen times, they concluded that it was all from a UTI?? I am still so puzzled by this, I never knew that a simple fever could turn so deadly! Unfortunately, a UTI is something you can only try your best to prevent with every diaper change and bath. Harbor was just a little unlucky! She spent the next three days on an IV and heavy antibiotics. I am just so thankful now to be such a paranoid Mother, it scares me to think what would have happened had I not woken up. Justin always makes fun of me because I check on my kids at least two or three times a night to "make sure they're still breathing". And at times I think I'm a little insane too when it's 2 AM and I am frantically running to each kids room to check on them, but after this experience I've learned that you have to be a little paranoid, especially when they're so little!!

You are a good mom Chelsea! Wow, what a scare. I am so glad that she is feeling better and that you are both home now. I hope that she keeps feeling great!
